Going to a rehabilitation program for Drug abuse and
addiction can be a frightening experience. Beyond the fact that going through
the transition from being addicted to and using drugs daily to being completely
drug-free is scary, the addict does not know what to expect. He has put himself
into the hands of strangers and with their help will be going through quite a
transformation. Hopefully. I have seen for years that people arriving to our detox rehab treatment centers have usually already been to one or more other rehabs before coming to Narconon. This is not that surprising, given the nature of addiction and the number of treatment facilities which simply replace drugs with more drugs.
At a Narconon program, the goal is to put back into the
hands of the addicted person, the ability to control his or her own actions.
This cannot be done by tearing them down, like some programs try to do.
Bringing someone to their knees is not therapeutic! Overcoming addiction must be done by adding strength, stability and resolve to the person. It isn’t about subtracting a disability; it is about adding ability. A Narconon graduate leaves the center more than what he or she was on arrival. Now life can be confronted and mastered, without falling back to the crutch of drug abuse. Add this page to your favorite Social Bookmarking website: |
